Ken Jones aerodrome
Port Antonio is one the major resort towns in Jamaica with its natural beauty and is considered the most tranquil place on this island. As far back as to earlier years when tourism just started in Jamaica this place has been capturing the hearts of the rich and famous and once was thought of as their playground.
This resort town is also home to one of the smaller airports on the island, called the Ken Jones Aerodrome or Port Antonio airport.
This resort town owes its fame to affluent men you visited Jamaica and stayed in this town, fell in love with this beauty at first sight and came back to call it home. Today, it is still attracts wealthy persons who wants to enjoy their vacation secretly away the hustle and bustle of other resort areas. The lush mountains, twin harbors and the dazzling blue waters still captivate the heart of the visitors today.

There are a wide variety of tours that can be organized from this town including a day of rafting on the Rio Grande River. This is a relaxing and exciting cruise down the river on bamboo rafts about six miles and offers two to three hours of spectacular scenery.
If you prefer a little more adventure, you can take a trip to the Blue Mountains. While you are there you can tour the coffee plantations or enjoy bicycle cycle ride on the mountain. You could also try the Rio Grande Valley tour which offers raft trips, walks, exploring of caves or waterfalls. There is nothing to worry about on any of these trips as they are conducted by experienced and trained guides, who will tell you beautiful stories for the duration of your tours.
The Port Antonio airport Jamaica will give you an opportunity to enjoy all this and more as it is a long drive from areas such as Montego Bay and Negril. You can find this airport about ten kilometers to the west of Port Antonio town and it not only serves the resort areas on the north coast but the local travel market as well.
The airport has a terminal structure with a lounge for passengers, a single runway and can seat twenty-four to thirty persons. One disadvantage with this airport is that there is no fueling facilities or flight operations at night.
You can make bookings for private chartered plane through the International Air Link for this airport. Once you get to Port Antonio you don’t have to worry about getting transportation as there are usually several taxis waiting when the planes arrive.
They can take you around to the sites in the town and also if you want to venture out to other areas on the North Coast. It is much easier to get to Port Antonio on domestic flights from most the resort towns with the exception of Kingston. You cannot get direct flights from this city anymore; however you have the option of going to Montego Bay and then flying across.
